Gary L. Dupree

Gary Linton Dupree of Shell Knob, MO, passed away April 24, 2007 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, MO. He was born November 17, 1936 in Lowndes County, Georgia, near Valdosta, to Forist and Gladys Dupree.

Gary graduated from Savannah High School in 1954 and from DeKalb Technical School in 1966. He was retired from the United States Air Force and the Georgia Department of Labor where he was a systems analyst.

He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 13 and was an ordained deacon. He participated in Baptist Churches in the many locations where he and his family lived.

He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Becky Gammage Dupree; daughter, Debra Andersen; son, Gary Dupree, Jr.; three grandsons: Joey Cartaya, Jonathan Dupree, and Nathaniel Dupree; granddaughter, Melissa Cartaya; two great-grandsons, Isack and Mason Cartaya; and great-granddaughter, Hailey Sommer Cartaya. Another son, Timothy, preceded him in death.

Other survivors include his sister, Gwen Woolman of Shell Knob, and four brothers, Gleaton, Charles, Ike and Dan Dupree; eighteen nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held in Shell Knob, MO on April 26 at the Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at Fox and Weeks in Savannah, GA on April 29 at 3:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 2:00.
